4. Why Momentas processes information

• Create, display, update, back up, restore, and delete memories

5. Local storage and backup

Momentas stores memories locally on the user's device. If Google Drive backup is enabled, Momentas can create a recovery copy in the user's own Google Drive.

6. Device permissions and access

Momentas may request access to device features only when needed for user-facing functionality, such as photos or media access when a user adds an image, notifications when a user enables reminders or daily summaries, and location access when a user chooses to attach place-related context to a memory.

If a permission is not granted, some features may not work, but other parts of the app may continue to function.

7. In-app disclosures

Momentas may show short in-app disclosures at the moment a feature is first used, especially where personal or sensitive data is involved in a way that may not be obvious from context alone.

For example, Google Drive backup and restore may explain that Google sign-in is used for Drive access, not for a Momentas app account.

8. Service providers and legal needs

• With service providers that help run the website, Google Drive backup, Google Play purchase handling, analytics, support, or reliability-related systems
• When required for legal compliance, security, abuse prevention, fraud prevention, or protection of rights

Momentas does not operate a public feed or public memory database.

9. Google Drive Backup

If a user chooses to enable Google Drive Backup, Momentas can store a backup of personal memory cards in that user's own Google Drive. This can include card details, reminders, rituals, and related media such as photos or voice notes.

Google Drive Backup is optional, can be turned off in the app at any time, and is used as a recovery copy for the user's own device data.

10. Storage, retention, and deletion

Momentas keeps information for as long as reasonably needed to operate the app, preserve local settings, support optional backup and purchases, maintain security, respond to support issues, investigate misuse, and meet legal obligations.

We collect anonymous technical and usage data to help improve the app experience. This may include information such as error reports, session duration, and feature interactions. It does not include your name, email address, or any other direct personal identifiers. We use this data solely to understand how the app is used, improve performance, and fix issues. This data is stored securely, is not sold to third parties, and is currently set to be retained for up to 30 days.

The public Momentas website may also use optional Google Analytics, but only after a visitor gives consent through the website banner. This helps measure page visits, broad device and browser information, and which public pages are most useful. It is not used to read the private content of memories stored in the app. Retention of that website analytics data depends on the Google Analytics settings configured for the site.

11. Data deletion

Momentas does not require a Momentas account for normal app use. Users can delete memories in the app, remove local app data from the device, and manage Google Drive backup files through Google Drive.

Some support, analytics, purchase, security, legal, or abuse-prevention records may be retained where reasonably needed or legally required.

12. Security

Momentas uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by the app. These may include authentication controls, access restrictions, secure transmission, and other safeguards appropriate to the app's functions.

No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but Momentas works to reduce risk and limit unnecessary exposure.
